What WebVigil handles
WebVigil processes website addresses and page elements locally in your browser to stop dangerous popups, tracking, manipulative advertising, scam redirects, and known malicious requests. Browsing history, page contents, blocked destinations, and local protection statistics are not sent to WebVigil’s servers.
For trial and license enforcement, the extension sends a randomly generated installation identifier and secret, extension version, and license-check timestamps. Our ordinary server logs may also contain IP address, request time, and user agent and are retained for up to 30 days for security and reliability.
You do not need an account during the seven-day trial. If you create an account after the trial, we store your email address, a one-way password hash, session tokens in hashed form, and your subscription status. Stripe processes payment details; WebVigil does not receive or store full card numbers. We retain Stripe customer and subscription identifiers to provide and manage your license.
If you contact support, we store the email address and message you submit until the request is resolved, then for up to 12 months for support history and abuse prevention.
How information is used and shared
We use the information only to operate trial access, authenticate accounts, provide paid protection, prevent abuse, answer support requests, and maintain service security. We share billing information with Stripe only as needed to process subscriptions. We do not sell information, use it for targeted advertising, or transfer browsing activity to third parties.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Security and your choices
Data is transmitted over HTTPS. You may request access, correction, or deletion through the support page. Deleting account data ends license access; payment records may be retained where legally required.
